The Winchester Geese were medieval London's forgotten women. Licensed and taxed by the Bishop of Winchester, then denied burial when they died. 15,000 bodies in Crossbones Graveyard. In the 1990s, Jubilee Line construction uncovered mass graves. Memorial gates at Redcross Way, Southwark, near Borough tube.
